Classic Apple Crumble! Easy Dessert with Golden Delicious & Gala Apples

It’s cold now, so we need something warm to still eat ice cream! Fancy a comforting dessert that’s simple to make, yet full of flavour? I’ll show you how to make a classic Apple Crumble using a mix of golden delicious and gala apples. With a hint of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a buttery crumble topping, this recipe has all the cosy flavours of fall that make it the perfect treat for any occasion.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 delicious golden apples
  • 2 Gaia apples
  • 2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 10g of cornflour
  • 100g of demerara sugar
  • 95g of caster sugar
  • 290g of plain flour
  • 200g of unsalted butter, cold & cubed
  • ½ of lemon
  • ½ tsp of fine sea salt
  • Fresh nutmeg
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp of water

METHOD:

1.Preheat the oven to 170 Start by peeling the apples and coring the centre of the apple. Cut into medium-sized cubes and place into a mixing bowl. * When cutting into cubes ensure that all the apple core is cut away to make sure that there are no hard bits

2.In the same mixing bowl as the cubed apples add the salt, 1 tsp of cinnamon, caster sugar and cornflour. Toss the apples and make sure that all the apples are covered fully. Place aside to make the crumble topping.

3.In another mixing bowl place the flour, demerara sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon powder and a pinch of salt, stir to incorporate all the dry ingredients.

4.Add the butter into the same bowl and rub into the flour mix. Do this until a rough sand texture is achieved. To create nuggets, squeeze some of the dough and break it into slightly bigger pieces.

5.Before baking, grate some nutmeg on the apple and crumble topping. Toss & mix separately.

6.In an 11 x8” baking dish place the apples, and add the water. Loosely add the crumble topping, and cover all the apples but avoid adding too much as to not compact.
